Structured Cabling &
Network Infrastructure Services

Stepman delivers enterprise-grade structured cabling and network infrastructure solutions across East and Central Africa. With over a decade of field experience, our locally-based certified engineers design, supply, install, terminate, test, certify, and maintain copper and fiber optic cabling systems for commercial campuses, government facilities, data centres, and multi-building institutional complexes. All installations are delivered in full compliance with ANSI/TIA-568 and ISO/IEC 11801 international standards, supported by comprehensive as-built documentation, cable schedules, test reports, and ongoing maintenance programmes.

COPPER CABLING SYSTEMS

We supply and install Cat 5e, Cat 6, Cat 6A, Cat 7, and Cat 8 UTP and STP copper cabling for horizontal and backbone distribution across enterprise campuses, office buildings, and institutional facilities. All copper installations encompass patch panel termination, cross-connects, faceplates, and network outlets, compliant with ANSI/TIA-568 and ISO/IEC 11801 standards. Our engineers carry out comprehensive link testing — covering continuity, attenuation, NEXT, PS-NEXT, and return loss — delivering certified infrastructure backed by full cable schedules and individual test reports.

FIBER OPTIC CABLING

Stepman installs single-mode (OS1/OS2) and multimode (OM1–OM4) fiber optic cabling for building-to-building backbone connectivity and campus-wide network infrastructure. Our fiber capabilities include aerial and underground routing, fusion splicing, mechanical termination, OTDR testing, and fiber patch cord deployment. We deliver high-bandwidth, low-latency fiber backbones for data centres, server rooms, Storage Area Networks (SAN), and inter-building campus environments — each certified to international standards and fully documented for long-term asset management.

NETWORK INFRASTRUCTURE & DATA CENTRES

Our infrastructure teams design and install complete data centre and server room environments — from 19-inch rack and open-frame cabinet installation and patch panel management to structured wiring, cable trays, PVC and metal conduit systems, cable gutters, and raceways. We provide physical mounting support for network switches, wireless access points, and SAN cabling infrastructure, ensuring every component is installed, labelled, and documented to facilitate long-term management and future scalability across multi-site campus deployments.

SECURITY SYSTEMS CABLING

Stepman provides specialist physical cabling and mounting infrastructure for CCTV/Video Surveillance systems, Access Control Systems, and wireless access point networks across multi-building campuses and complex institutional sites. Services include CCTV camera bracket and pole installation, cable routing and termination for IP cameras and recording equipment, access control panel wiring, and structured cabling for perimeter and interior security networks — all installed to manufacturer specifications and fully documented.

TESTING, CERTIFICATION & DOCUMENTATION

Every copper and fiber installation delivered by Stepman is subject to rigorous certification testing using calibrated instruments. Copper testing covers wiremap, length, insertion loss, NEXT, PS-NEXT, return loss, and propagation delay to TIA-568 and ISO/IEC 11801 Category standards. Fiber testing includes OTDR traces, insertion loss, and return loss per TIA-526 and IEC 61280 standards. All projects are accompanied by complete technical documentation: as-built drawings, cable schedules, rack and panel layouts, port mapping records, individual link test reports, and asset labels — delivering a fully auditable infrastructure record for each installation.

PREVENTIVE & CORRECTIVE MAINTENANCE

Stepman offers comprehensive preventive and corrective maintenance programmes for all structured cabling and network infrastructure. Scheduled preventive maintenance includes physical inspection of cable pathways, terminations, patch panels, racks, and passive components; connector cleaning; and verification testing to confirm ongoing system performance. Corrective maintenance covers rapid fault diagnosis, cable repair or replacement, and system restoration — backed by 24/7 rapid-response support capability. All maintenance activities are documented and used to update asset records, cable schedules, and system drawings.

AV & BROADCAST CABLING

Drawing on our deep audiovisual integration heritage, Stepman provides specialist AV signal cabling for broadcast, conferencing, and presentation environments. Our AV cabling services cover SDI, composite, RCA, and XLR signal cabling, as well as HDMI and control signal distribution for conference rooms, boardrooms, auditoriums, and command-and-control centres. AV cabling is installed in dedicated conduit and cable management systems to prevent interference with data and power infrastructure, with all connections labelled and documented to the same standard as our ICT cabling works.

CABLE MANAGEMENT & PHYSICAL INFRASTRUCTURE

Professional cable management is central to every Stepman installation. We supply and install PVC and metal conduit, surface-mount cable gutters, perforated cable trays, and enclosed raceways to route and protect copper, fiber, and AV cabling throughout buildings and across campus sites. Physical infrastructure services also include the installation and dressing of 19-inch rack enclosures, open-frame server racks, and network cabinet assemblies with blanking panels, horizontal and vertical cable managers, and power distribution units — delivered as a complete, tidy, and maintainable end-to-end infrastructure solution.
